Serving Others
I so agree with Ralph Waldo Emerson when he said, “It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself”. God created us with this desire to help others and to feel needed. I want to encourage all of you to find an opportunity, this week, to help someone else. Last night I was able to participate in an awesome serving opportunity. A family in our town had quite a few trees come down during our last heavy snow storm of the year. They needed to clear the trees from their property. There are also quite a few families in our town who have a hard time paying the high heating bills during our cold months. We gathered up a group of people to cut up the fallen trees, load them into trucks and bring them to our local Christian Outreach Organization. Now people can go get free fire wood to heat their homes. It was a win-win-win situation. The family received help clearing trees from their property, other families will receive free wood to heat their homes and those of us moving the wood received the joy of helping others (also a great workout moving wood for hours!). So again, find an opportunity to serve someone this week. When you have a minute, read Matthew 25: 37-40. When you get another minute, share your stories about how you ended up helping others.
