DAY 3 – Healthy Eating Myth & Truth

MYTH: Coffee Is Bad for You

TRUTH: In moderation, coffee is not bad for you. According to Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, coffee is chock full of substances that may help guard against conditions more common in women, including Alzheimer’s disease and heart disease. “Caffeine is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about coffee. But coffee also contains antioxidants and other active substances that may reduce internal inflammation and protect against disease,” says Diane Vizthum, M.S., R.D. The recommended amount of caffeine is about 100 mg per day. Reason being it restricts blood flow to the brain. The more blood flow the more oxygen and the more oxygen the healthier the Brain!!!!! However, everyone has different tolerance for caffeine so it’s important to listen to your body and consult with your doctor in terms of how much coffee is right for you. Where coffee can turn unhealthy is what we choose to put in it. Many people load their coffee with artificially flavored creamers and sugar. So do you really like coffee or do you like cream and sugar? Coffee is much healthier if we stick with milk and natural flavors like pure vanilla extract. I cannot live without my milk frother! It was an inexpensive investment that lets me enjoy a healthy, unsweetened latte in my home every morning. Highly recommend!

Something to Think About

This verse is such a strong reminder of the power of God. He is not only the creator of our world, but also the ruler! He is our creator, and our ruler. When we start to view our lives as a gift from God, it becomes easier to seek opportunities to use that life as a way to bring Him glory and praise.
