DAY 14 – Healthy Eating Myth & Truth

MYTH: My friend lost a ton of weight on Keto, it should work for me

TRUTH: The Keto diet is known for its fast weight loss by promoting very low carb, high fat diet. It is among the most restrictive of all diets, often leading to the “yo-yo effect” (alternating weight loss and weight gain). The Mayo Clinic does not recommend this diet due to its limits on healthy foods, thereby limiting micronutrients, its high unhealthy saturated fat promotion and limits of fruits, veggies and grains. Side effects have been known to be constipation, leg cramps and hair loss, most likely due to its lack of key nutrients.

It is so important that we keep our eye on moving towards better health rather than just keeping our eye on the scale. You may lose weight short term with Keto, but chances are you will not have improved health. We should really question a diet that allows us to east as much bacon as we want but limits many fruits and vegetables.


You may know someone who lost weight with Keto but it is highly unlikely that they will keep that weight off.

Something to Think About

Our most important job here on earth is to help those around us see God more clearly. When we do things for our own glory, or so that people will be impressed with us, we miss out on the opportunity to do something truly meaningful. How can you use your life to give the glory to God? Share your gifts and talents with the world, and always give Him credit for making you the person that you are!
