Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 ½ tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 ¾ lb animal bones (ie. chicken, beef, pork)
  • salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  • I highly recommend drinking 1 cup each morning. It's one of the best things you can do for your bones, hair and other things!!
  • Place all ingredients in a large pot or slow cooker.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce to a simmer and cook for 12–24 hours. The longer it cooks, the better it will taste and more nutritious it will be.
  • Allow the broth to cool. Strain it into a large container and discard the solids.
  • Homemade bone broth can typically last in the fridge for up to 7 days. To preserve it longer, you can freeze it for up to 12 months.

Notes

Bone broth strengthens your bones, and benefits the digestive system. It may help in fighting  inflammation, protecting against chronic illnesses, and preventing leaky gut (which is when the barrier between your gut and the bloodstream is impaired, allowing for substances that your body doesn’t normally allow to leak into your bloodstream and cause problems.)
Its nutrients have also been found to improve joint health. Collagen is the main protein found in bones, tendons, and ligaments. During the cooking process, collagen from bones and connective tissue is broken down into another protein called gelatin. Gelatin contains important amino acids that support joint health. The amino acids in bone broth help support joint health, and consuming it may help lessen the symptoms of osteoarthritis.
Helps with weight loss as well because gelatin makes you feel full and may improve sleep and brain function.
