Inspirational Tip

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” – Hippocrates

Take note of the author of this quote. Hippocrates was born around 460 BC. Yes, way back then it was known that food has a huge impact on our health. Ann Wigmore put it this way, “The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”

One of the most powerful ways to improve your health is by improving your diet and that means keeping your added sugar to less than 24 grams each day.

Challenge

Your challenge for today is to write down or send time thinking about those you love. How does your health affect them? If you have grandkids, or hope to one day, picture a day with them. See yourself running and playing with them. See yourself strong, able to pick them up and snuggle with them. Maybe grandchildren aren’t in your future, but picture a day in the future with your close friends or family. You are all hiking or playing tennis or whatever activity you love. You’re enjoying life together. Now picture your life if you develop cancer, heart disease, dementia… spending hours in dr offices, unable to fly and visit family, limited in what you can do.

There are no guarantees of course, but if you choose now to cut way back on sugar you truly increase your odds of living a life filled with energy, strength and health. The small sacrifice of avoiding sweets is so small compared to what you can gain.

Recipe Makeover

This is my absolute go to breakfast. No need for sugar and syrup on these pancakes!

This is my go to breakfast but also love them as a side dish or appetizer.
