(Scroll Down To the Bottom For a New Video On My Mom)
I have so much to be grateful for, but I have to say having my mom as my mom is one of the greatest gifts God has given me. I think so much of who I am today is because of who my mom is.
My mom is in her mid 90’s. She has some health challenges but she is still the most encouraging person I know. When someone steps close to her she always has something kind to say to them. She was recently hospitalized and then in a rehab facility and each time a nurse or helper would come into her room she would say something that would help them see the beauty inside them.
I hope you’ll take a minute to listen to this video so you can be inspired by this wonderful woman who has such wisdom. We filmed this “live” so there are times when the video quality isn’t perfect but you can still hear her important words of wisdom.
Interview with my Mom: learn her health tips
The words my mom said to me so often during my life and continues to say to me are, “If anyone can do it, you can do it, Michelle”. How awesome is that? I am so sorry if those weren’t the words you were told by your parents but the wonderful thing is your Heavenly Father is saying those words to you. Listen for His voice that says, “If I am calling you to do something, you can absolutely do it with my help”
There is so much we can learn from others, especially those who have lived more years than we have. Sadly, too many elderly sit alone in facilities where they are longing for someone to talk to. I would love for you to pray about volunteering at an assisted living facility. My friend, Eileen (she’s in most of the FW workout videos) had never read a Bible. She felt like God was asking her to read it, but He said don’t do it alone. She called a local assisted living in her area and asked if anyone would like to read the Bible with her. To her surprise, they said 10 people signed up to read with her. She was so tempted to say “No, I can’t read it with all of them, I’ve never read it” but she didn’t let that lie take root and went each week to read and learn with them.
How cool is that!! Don’t think you have to be fully equipped to do something. If God is calling you, He will equip you. I am currently reaching a 45-minute chair workout and 30-minute Faith Talk at my parent’s facility. When I was speaking about God’s love I saw one of the women tear up a bit because I don’t think she had ever heard that God loves her just as she is.
Well, that’s all for now. I hope my mom’s story blessed you. I hope Eileen’s story inspired you. I hope God’s love overwhelms you.
Here is a video of my mom’s journey over the past month.
