Reflection:

Something that can be hard to fully embrace (especially for Type A personalities like myself) is that we will never be perfect—and that’s okay. The world may pressure us to be flawless, but God knows that we are human, and He loves us exactly as we are. In Philippians 1:6, Paul encourages us with these words: “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

This verse is a beautiful reminder that God is the one doing the work in us. We don’t have to be perfect right now, because God is still shaping and refining us. The journey of growth and transformation is ongoing, and He will continue to work in us until the day we meet Him. We are a work in progress, and that’s exactly how God designed it. So, let go of the pressure to be perfect and trust that God is faithful to complete the work He’s started in you.

Too often we try to measure up to unattainable standards, but the truth is, that perfection is not the goal. Growth is. This reminds me of one of my favorite lyrics from Running Home by Cochren & Co.:

"No more running in circles trying be good enough.

I'm far from perfect, but I found perfect love.

In the arms that won’t let go."

How often do we exhaust ourselves trying to be good enough when in reality, we are already loved enough? God never asked us to be perfect—He simply asks us to trust Him. His love isn’t based on our performance but on who He is. We might be far from perfect, but in Him, we have perfect love, and that love will never let us go.

So today, instead of striving for perfection, rest in the truth that you are already fully known, fully loved, and always held in the arms of your Father.
