Have you ever stopped to think about where some of your habits actually came from? Not all of them started with you. Many of us are walking around with routines, expectations, and “rules” we picked up from someone else along the way. A parent. A friend. A boss. A diet trend. Even something we saw on social media.

Some of those habits may have helped for a season. Others might not fit who you are anymore. Some were never healthy to begin with.

When we lose sight of who we are, it’s easy to start copying someone else’s life. But God didn’t create you to live someone else’s path. Your schedule, your body, your energy level, and your seasons are unique. Healthy habits grow best when they’re rooted in your identity, not in comparison or pressure to keep up.

This shows up clearly when it comes to fitness. Not every workout style is meant for every body. Just because something works for someone else doesn’t mean it’s the right fit for you. Some people love early mornings. Others feel stronger later in the day. Some bodies thrive with strength training, while others need gentler movement. The goal isn’t to follow what’s popular. It’s to find what helps you feel strong, capable, and consistent.

The same is true with food, where comparison can sneak in quietly. “She eats that.” She avoids this.” “They lost weight doing it this way.” Before we know it, we’re ignoring what our own bodies are telling us. Instead of borrowing someone else’s plate, try tuning in to how food actually makes you feel. Does it leave you energized? Satisfied? Sluggish? Your body gives good information when you’re willing to listen.

Today is a great day to release habits that no longer belong to you. You don’t need someone else’s plan to be healthy. You don’t need to match anyone else’s pace. You just need habits that fit your life, your body, and the person God created you to be.

Keep going!
