Making Room for God to Work
Romans 10:11 — "For the Scripture says, 'Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.'"
I hope you've been taking time to really think about what we've been sharing over the past week.
I know how easy it is to read a daily message, check it off your list, and move on with your day. But I want to encourage you to approach these lessons a little differently.
Don't just read them to get through them. Give yourself time to think about how they apply to your own life.
My hope is that you'll begin recognizing the ways shame has influenced your thoughts, choices, and relationships, and that you'll experience more of the freedom God wants for you.
You've probably noticed that I've been talking quite a bit about prayer. That's because I've personally experienced how powerful it can be to bring our struggles to God, spend time in His presence, and allow His truth to change the way we think.
And today, I have something special to share with you!
My friend Suzanne is one of the coolest people I know. She has such a heart for God, and her passion for prayer is contagious!
Suzanne often joins me at our retreats, where she leads group prayer and spends time praying individually with women. I've heard some incredible stories of what God has done during those times, including experiences people have described as miracles.
I asked Suzanne if she would create a special guided prayer for our No Shame November challenge, and she graciously said yes!
This isn't something I want you to simply watch and move on from. I really hope you'll participate.
Before you begin, grab a journal or a piece of paper and a pen. Find a comfortable, quiet place where you won't be distracted, and give yourself permission to slow down.
As Suzanne guides you through the prayer, be honest with God about what you've been carrying. Pay attention to the thoughts and feelings that come up, and consider what His Word says about them.
You don't need to have a particular experience or come away with all the answers. Just be willing to spend this time with Him.
My prayer is that this experience will help you recognize the shame you've been holding on to and take another step toward the peace, joy, and freedom that come from knowing God's love.
You'll find Suzanne's guided prayer in today's lesson below.
