Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “I’ll never get this right,” or “Why bother?” I’ve heard these comments from people, whether it’s in their health journey, diet, marriage, or even ministry work. Those thoughts can creep in and drain your motivation. But I’ve learned that just like we train our bodies, we can train our minds, and it all starts with God’s truth.
Romans 12:2 reminds us, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Our thoughts shape our lives more than we realize. The good news? God gives us the tools to renew our minds and live in freedom, not frustration.
4 mindset resets that help me and can help you too:
1. From “I can’t” to “I can… with God’s help”
When I started Faithful Workouts, I was filled with doubts. “Who am I to lead others?” “What if I fail?” But I chose to flip my script – in other words, to reframe my thoughts – and I clung to Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
That verse wasn’t just a nice saying – it became my anchor. Every time fear crept in, I went back to that truth. I wasn’t doing this in my own strength, and neither are you.
You may feel unequipped for the changes you’re trying to make, but with God, you’re never walking alone. His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), and you, too, can flip your script and walk boldly in the story He’s writing for you.
2. From “All or nothing” to “Every small step matters”
So many women tell me, “I missed a workout this week, so I just gave up.” I get it! But progress isn’t about perfection. One healthy meal, one prayer, one walk—they matter. Let’s not despise small beginnings. Each small choice is a step, and with time and consistency, those steps build into real, lasting change.
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” (Zechariah 4:10, NLT)
3. From “I failed” to “I’m learning”
There have been times I totally dropped the ball – lost my patience, said something I wish I hadn’t, or let comparison steal my joy. But God uses even those moments. When you mess up (because we all do), don’t let shame keep you stuck. Instead, ask, “What can I learn?” Then move forward in grace.
God’s not looking for perfection. He’s looking for hearts that seek Him, even after a stumble.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
(2 Corinthians 12:9)
“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)
4. From “I’m alone in this” to “God is with me—and so is my community”
When we struggle, the enemy loves to whisper, “You’re the only one.” But that’s a lie. Not only is God always by your side, but He also places people around you who care. Reach out. Ask for prayer. Share your journey. You don’t have to walk this road alone. God never meant for you to carry your burdens by yourself – let Him and others be part of your story and your strength.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified… for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)
Friend, your mindset is not set in stone. It can shift. It can grow. And when it’s anchored in God’s truth, it becomes one of the most powerful tools you have.
So the next time discouragement tries to take over, pause. Invite God into your thoughts. Then flip the script and remind yourself who you are in Christ. You’ve got this… because He’s got you.
