My 5 Tips For A Healthy Weekend

My 5 Tips For A Healthy Weekend

I know for some people it can be challenging to make healthy choices over the weekend. There are often more temptations to pull you off course. But, making healthy choices doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your weekend! Here are my My 5 tips for a healthy weekend:

1. Start your day healthy.

Studies show that, if you start your day healthy, you are more likely to continue to make healthy choices throughout the day. Of course, it’s best to start your day with a healthy breakfast. Our free online cookbook has so many quick, healthy breakfast recipes to choose from. CLICK HERE to see them

On Saturday, start by reading one chapter in your Bible, and then talk to God and ask Him to help you make healthier choices that day. Then, do one of our FW exercise videos. After your workout, make a yummy smoothie! Click here to browse our free smoothie recipes!

 2. Look at what you have going on over the weekend.

If you’re going to be at a friend’s house for a meal, and you’re concerned about what they’ll be serving, you may want to offer to bring a dish that you know will be healthy (maybe a nice salad or veggie dish). This way you can make sure there is something healthy for you to eat, and it will probably be a big help to whoever invited you over.

If you’re going to eat out, pick a restaurant that you know has some healthy options. I often eat extra healthy and clean before going out for dinner to offset what I may eat at a friend’s house or at a restaurant.

3. Plan to be active.

Instead of meeting a friend for coffee, ask if they’d like to go for a walk. (Don’t worry! You can still grab a coffee to take with you on the walk.)

The weekend is a great time to ask someone to come over and do a Faithful Workouts exercise video with you, and then you can enjoy a smoothie or coffee together. Pray and ask God to put someone on your heart who you could reach out to. There are so many people struggling with loneliness, and your invitation for a walk or a workout and snack may make their day!

4. Make sure you have healthy drinks & food in your fridge and pantry.

We tend to snack more over the weekend, so have healthy snacks ready to go. Stocking your fridge and pantry with whole foods and healthy ingredients makes it easier to create nutritious snacks and meals throughout the week and weekend.

For some, weekends can be a time when we drink more alcohol. Click Here for 2 of my favorite health “Mocktail” recipes

5. Have a check-in meeting with yourself.

Reflecting on the past week is a great way to look at what is working well in our lives, as well as what isn’t working well. You can also use this time to journal about the past week. (Check out our blog on why you should consider adding journaling into your routine!) Check in with how you’re doing, and really be honest with yourself.

Just like looking at what you have going on over the weekend is helpful, so is planning out your upcoming week. Writing down our thoughts is good for our mind and our spirit. It can also be helpful to write down everything you’re planning for in the upcoming week. Writing things down helps us to better remember them and to plan accordingly.
